Urban Desert Farmer

{August 21, 2011}   Writing a book

I’ve been reading up on urban homesteading and I have run into a very frustrating thing. It’s all geared at cool weather places like San Fransisco and New York. I, and half the country, live in very hot very dry places. “Any sunny spot is a great place for a garden” translates into your plants will burn and shrivel up no matter how much you water them. ForĀ  where I live I have to plant in shade so the “sun loving” squash and sunflowers will even survive, let alone other veggies.

Therefore I’m am going to write a book for all the urbanites who don’t live in New York, even though I think some people think we don’t exist.
